General Questions

CTI-IPS is a summer workshop where students across the Bay Area collaborate virtually to solve coding challenges. CTI stands for Computing Talent Initiative, representing the fundamental idea that anyone, regardless of income or location, could build a career path in computer science. IPS stands for Interview Problem Sovling, which is the focus of the summer workshop. The workshop has transitioned into a Fall semester weekly program, however since this event was initially planned then, we continue using its first name.

Our event is run by college students, and primarily for college students. This is a very beginner friendly environment, so you don't need to know how to code to attend, but skills can definitely help you get more done. Additionally, there are no restrictions based on college or area. However, you must be 16 or older to attend, and if you are under 18, you must make this known to the CTI-IPS Hackthon Team.

AdoptAClassroom.org believes that every child should have access to the resources they deserve to succeed in school. Sadly, too often our nation’s educators have to use their personal funds in an attempt to give students equal access to education. The results from our 2020 Teacher Spending Survey highlight the fact that the need for teachers to spend their own money to do their job is increasing.

Since then, classroom needs have drastically changed. As one teacher responded, “Right now, there are so many unknowns for my classroom, all I know is that I cannot anticipate everything I need for the fall.” Teachers need funding to respond to current events in education. They need to be able to quickly access the materials they need most, and get them directly to students at home, or in the classroom.

We'll also be keeping track of the event donations and using our totals for event activities. The actvities themselves will be covered as we approach the day of the event.
